About Prabha Engineering

Prabha Engineering was started in 1958. It has been decades but the stone that has been laid then is now a strong foundation of world-class success. It began with late Shri Yeshwant N. Chaphekar, the man who dared to dream and imbibed untiring efforts to achieve it.

A simple boy with humble beginning, he came from a poor family. With no means of proper education at his end he still dreamt of achieving big. His journey began as a regular worker at an engineering factory in Parel, Bombay. Being a sole earner he had big responsibilities yet fate had other plans. He lost his job to an untimely strike, but instead of wailing, waiting and expecting someone will offer him chances, this man decided to take matters in his own hands.

With strong determination and gust of self-sufficiency by his side, he set up a small workshop in a tin shed at Lower Parel in Mumbai and manufactured tools and dies with only his hands as tools of precision. It were those days when technical revolution were in its initial stages. Thus began Prabha Engineering’s journey of success with Shri Yeshwant. N. Chaphekar, at the ripe age of 58 years. At an age when people think of retiring, here was a man indulging in a start-up. Such was his conviction that he thought nothing was impossible.

Today Prabha Engineering is one of the leading players in India to manufacture Wiper System & Windshield Washer System & also exporting motorised products to USA employing more than 600 associates in two of their locations in Maharashtra.

Our esteemed domestic customers are, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Daimler Benz, JCB, L&T Case, Piaggio & Force Motors.

It has been decades but the stone that has been laid as Prabha Engineering is now a strong foundation of world-class success. It began with Mr. Yeshwant N. Chaphekar, the man who dared to dream and imbibed untiring efforts to achieve it.

A simple boy with humble beginning, he came from a poor family. With means of proper education at his end he still dreamed of achieving big. When people think of retiring, here was a man indulging in a start-up. Such was his conviction that he thought nothing was impossible.

Hence from one person the dream grew and expanded to 1000 people in a span of 22 years. And all this happened because people believed in his dream, believed in his vision and trusted his single-minded focus of creating world-class products to eventually stamp his authority on world map.

His ideals have always been pearls of wisdom for all those who want to follow his example and realize their dreams.

Mr. Jaywant. Y. Chaphekar

Chairman

Following the footsteps of his great visionary father, current Chairman-Mr. Jaywant. Y. Chaphekar has not only excelled but taken the dream of growing Prabha Engineering to new heights. Working shoulder to shoulder with his father, he started making tools and dies, but with a vision to excel he kept moving up the value chain by disrupting his existing businesses. From making tools & dies he moved to making sheet metal components thereon to making sheet metal products and finally diversified into auto electrical manufacturing wiper system and windshield washer systems.

From his humble beginnings in a small chawl, he grew up in a society that saw anti-social activities on a daily basis, but he never got fazed with it and concentrated on pursuing his studies. Studies began in municipal school which then ventured into technical school.

His one mantra of life is- Walk the talk and continues to inspire the team to think out of box and accept ever growing challenges.

Young, charismatic and goal driven personality, Mr. Shrikant Chaphekar is a man of tomorrows dreams. He is a people’s person with modern outlook. Besides focus on business, the cause of the wider community is central to his vision. He took over the reins and since then it has been a story of unprecedented growth, and his leadership was instrumental in scripting the success story.

Mr. Shrikant Chaphekar holds a Graduate degree in Commerce with additional qualifications as an MBA in marketing. He has been blessed with business ethics from childhood. He would accompany his father to business trips wherein most of the important values of life were imbibed in him. He has a tremendous belief and faith that caring for people, being persistent and meeting commitments are precious values of life which everyone should adhere to. And the same reflects in his day to day behavior with one and all. He lives by Frank Zappa's quote:

“A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open.”

Corporate Social Responsibility

csr

Social responsibility has always been an integral part for Mr. Yeshwant N. Chaphekar long back when he was still a struggling boy searching for good education. The struggle had a deep impact on him such that he wanted to deliver proper education to children compared to what he could not gain in his childhood. Eventually he adopted a school in ‘Manor,’a small village, 150 kms. from Mumbai for social development and growth purpose. His dream of self-sufficiency had begun.

Mr. Yeshwant N. Chaphekar was instrumental in the idea of rural development way before the CSR term was coined. Having lived most of his life in poverty & without proper education he knew the pain and felt the pinch of villagers who were cut off from basic necessities. Hence this was his way to give back to the society, his promise of welfare & prosperity.

Today the village is a shining example of development & good infrastructure, wherein children are pursuing higher studies and people are part of progressive society. By introducing digital education a new page in the development of village has been turned.

The dream is now carried forward by his family & well-wishers who want to follow his footsteps towards better society by indulging selflessly for a noble cause.
